Some answers to your questions

Find answers to commonly asked questions about the Business Export Exchange Programme
What is a global export strategy?

An exporting strategy details which foreign countries you will export to and how your company will export its goods or services. It determines the pricing strategies, the products or services that will be sold, the markets and buyers it will sell to, and how the products or services will reach its customers.

What help will I need to develop and implement my export strategy?
Our Global Export Hub (GEH) and Global Ambassador Club (GAC) will provide you with access to support covering these and many other areas:
  • Export strategy planning
  • Sales and marketing, including: market knowledge, contacts in overseas markets, creating export plans
  • Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS), access to trade missions and overseas tradeshows
  • E-exporting, optimising digital sales channels/websites
  • Language and culture
  • Product and service development, including: innovation, IP and certification/standards
  • Operations, including: legal and regulatory issues, export controls, documentation, logistics and distribution.
What is an export readiness assessment (ERA)?

An ERA identifies if your business is suitable for international trade. Since no two businesses are the same, this is the first question we must ask. During the programme we will help you to evaluate the appropriateness of your products and services for export, and the infrastructure you have in place to support international trade.

What tailored guidance will I receive on how to become export-ready?
As part of the ‘International Strategy’ (Year 1) and ‘Adapt for Scale’ (Year 2) programme phases you will be supported to prepare a detailed Export Readiness and Collaboration Readiness assessment, which will include reviews of intellectual property risks, trademarks, branding, packaging, pricing, safety certification, customs regulations, and relevant legislation.

Opening up opportunities

  • Are you an established entrepreneur committed to exporting into international markets?
  • Are you looking to develop new strategies, and establish collaboration networks to scale your SME?
  • Have you identified the investment and resources required to expand your business operations?

If the answer to these questions is ‘yes’, the Business Export Exchange Programme could be for you.
